Pack Weight Check
How your loaded pack compares to the recommended share of body weight.
How it works. Rule of thumb: a loaded backpacking pack should be ≤ 20% of body weight; a day pack ≤ 10%. Lighter is easier on knees and energy. Both weights must use the same unit.
